Dog fed a poor diet shed a lot more than dogs on high quality food. Expensive dog food doesn’t necessarily mean good food.Try to change their food to stop dog shedding.

There are supplements like “no shed” meant to enhance a dogs diet with supplements.

Try out different brands of dog food.

Twice a week, put some safflower oil in the dog’s food (4 TBS or so) and throw in 1 raw egg
weekly. Make sure the dog eats the raw egg quickly, it’s not good to let it sit in the dish.Great dog shedding reducer.

Check your dogs thyroid levels. Veterinary help will be needed.

Animal fat in the form of chicken and fish meal helps.  This keeps the coat glossy and
healthy. Keep the dog away from all food and biscuits that have soybean in them.  Dogs get bad skin, hotspots, ear problems when eating these, and of course shedding starts to be more noticeable.

Shepherds and Collies have a heavy winter undercoat. If it’s not stripped out it can shed year round.

Vitamin E, Selenium, and Zinc contribute to healthy coats and may possibly be deficient in poor quality
foods.

Try vacuuming the dog.  Some people say it works. Some dogs do like it, others don’t.

Groom the dog!

Some dogs are highly allergic to beef and even chicken.  One time, I was lazy and bought
a bag of Purina One at the grocery store and regretted it big time…. the coats went dull in a week, the shedding was incredible and they also began itching terribly.

We ended up purchasing “Shed Protector”s for our goldens to wear in the car, and have had a great experience with them. Especially after they play at the park and get wet/muddy… it solved all issues including shedding (in the car..anyway!)
